Privacy Policy
What Flashdown collects
Nothing. Flashdown runs entirely in your browser. The file you drop is read locally via JavaScript and never sent to any server. When you close the tab, everything is gone.
Third-party services
Flashdown loads a handful of open-source libraries from CDNs to do its work. These services may log standard request information (your IP address, browser agent, etc.) under their own privacy policies:
- Cloudflare CDN (cdnjs.cloudflare.com) — serves the conversion libraries (marked, mammoth, turndown, pdf.js). Privacy Policy
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) — serves the site's typefaces. Privacy Policy
No cookies are set by Flashdown itself. The site does not use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising.
Data retention
There is no database, no server-side storage, and no logging on our end. Your file and its converted Markdown exist only in your browser's memory for the duration of your session.
Flashdown API
The optional Flashdown API (api.flashdown.co.in) is a separate, server-side service for developers. When you call it, the file you submit is uploaded to the API, converted in memory, and discarded — nothing is stored, logged, or retained. It is intended for documents you are comfortable sending over HTTPS; for anything sensitive, use the browser tool, which never uploads your files.
Your rights
Because we collect no personal data, there is nothing to access, rectify, or delete. If you have questions, reach out via the contact information below.
Terms of Use
Acceptance
By using Flashdown, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Use of service
Flashdown is provided free of charge as a convenience tool. You may use it for any lawful purpose. You agree not to:
- Use the service to convert or distribute copyrighted material without authorization
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, abuse, or disrupt the service
- Use the service in violation of applicable laws
Disclaimer
Flashdown is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The conversion is performed heuristically and may not produce perfect results for all files — especially scanned PDFs or complex layouts. The authors are not liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use the service.
Changes
These terms may be updated at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
